The Essential Holy Year Pilgrimage

Pilgrimage Co-Director: Fr. Martin Cain

Martin Cain is a priest of the Diocese of Monterey, CA, and currently serves as pastor of the historic Old Mission Church in San Luis Obispo, founded by St. Junipero Serra. With a background in college-level theology, he has a passion for spiritual direction and has led numerous retreats inspired by the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyola. A seasoned traveler, Martin enjoys helping others deepen their faith by exploring some of the most historic and sacred sites in the Catholic tradition. He brings a wealth of experience and enthusiasm to every pilgrimage, blending history, spirituality, and a deep sense of community.

Pilgrimage Co-Director: Mr. Adam Green
Adam Green is a theology teacher and spiritual director. He completed his theological training at Boston College and has taught theology at the high school level since 2011 -including co-leading student trips to Italy since 2019. He has also taught at John Carroll University, directed numerous retreats based on the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyola, and his writing has appeared in America Magazine. Additionally, throughout his undergraduate and graduate studies, he worked in restaurants in Cleveland's Little Italy and Boston's North End. Thus, he is nearly as passionate about spreading the joys and knowledge of Italian cuisine as he is about helping people cultivate their relationship with God. He lives outside of Cleveland with his wonderful wife and their two school-aged children

Pilgrimage Prep

To help pilgrims prepare spiritually and intellectually, Adam will curate a dedicated Pilgrim’s Resource page, which will go live on June 15, 2025. This will include helpful resources and useful links. Throughout the pilgrimage, Adam and Fr. Martin will lead daily brief seminars, providing insights to help you reflect on and deepen your understanding of the sites you’ll visit each day.
