Sunday – December 17, 2017

• Fáilte Ireland! We will depart north to visit the monolithic site of Newgrange.  After our visit, we will continue to the only walled city on the Island of Ireland: Derry/Londonderry.

• Enjoy a special arrival dinner this evening. (D)

 

Monday – December 18, 2017

• Today we will get to know Derry/Londonderry and tour the City Walls and Tower Museum.  In this city, whose very name is contested, we see the history of the “troubles” in microcosm and its transformation in the UK City of Culture.

• Derry City has been one of the longest inhabited places in Ireland. The name derives from the settlement’s earliest references, Daire Calgaich (“oak-grove of Calgach”). The name was changed from Derry to Londonderry in 1613 during the Plantation of Ulster to reflect the establishment of the city by the London guilds. (B, D)

 

Tuesday– December 19, 2017

• Today we will say goodbye to Derry and make our way down the world-renowned north Antrim Coast toward Belfast.  Our first stop will be Dunluce Castle where you can pretend you’re a cast member of Game of Thrones as we explore the ruins.   Our next stop will be the UN World Heritage site of Giant’s Causeway.   After we leave Giant’s Causeway we will make our way through Glenariff glens to Carrickfergus Castle. 

• This evening you will arrive in Belfast and enjoy a special Christmas Dinner. (B, D)

Wednesday – December 20, 2017

• Belfast is the heart of Ulster and the capital of Northern Ireland.  Her old Gaelic name, Beal Feirste means “Mouth of the Farset.”  Belfast is the only city in Ireland to have undergone an Industrial Revolution and has many reminders of her industrial past - including her massive shipyard. Today you will see Ireland’s most visited landmark: The Titanic Museum. 

• This afternoon you will explore the major landmarks of this Victorian capitol city including the famous Christmas Markets.

• Tonight we will attend West End theatre production. (B, D)

 

Thursday – December 21, 2017

• This morning you will say goodbye to Belfast and head to Ireland’s other capital: Dublin. 

• Students will love the vibrant, youthful and energetic pace of this city.  Some of the highlights our group will see are: Trinity College Dublin, Temple Bar district, St. Stephen's Green and Christchurch Cathedral.

• Tonight we will attend Christmas show in Dublin. (B, D)

 

Friday – December 22, 2017

• This morning you will get to know Ireland culture through its sports at Experience Gaelic Games.

• This afternoon students will have time to Christmas shop on Dublin’s famous Grafton Street and take in the carolers.

• Tonight enjoy a special going away dinner with live Irish music! (B, D)

Saturday – December 23, 2017

• Depart back for the USA. (B)
