Arrive in Rome, Italy and transfer to Sorrento, Italy! Journey south toward the Bay of Naples where charming hillside villages hug the shoreline of the sparkling blue sea. The narrow medieval lanes of Sorrento are yours to discover! This place is so beautiful an Instagram pic is around every corner.

Saturday – June 8, 2019

Today you will travel along one of Italy’s most iconic shorelines with a journey now the Amalfi Coast to Positano. Positano was made famous by the film Under the Tuscan Sun. In Positano, you will visit the church of Santa Maria Assunta and see its famous Black Madonna. Enjoy leisure time in town and stroll the narrow cobblestone streets lined with traditional boutiques. Make sure to save some time to visit and take in the stunning waterfront. The group will gather for a Limoncello tasting before heading back to Sorrento.

Independent day in Sorrento

Today is your day to relax, shop or explore the Sorrento your way. You may wish to attend Sunday mass at the Duomo, a Romanesque cathedral with its intricate inlaid woodwork, a local Sorrento craft. Make sure to take in Sorrento’s sweeping water views and enjoy an espresso in Piazza Tasso.

This evening join the group for a waterfront evening meal with traditional Sorrentine fare and wine pairings. (B, D)
Monday – June 10, 2019

You have two options to choose from today. Option #1: Enjoy the beautiful town of Sorrento. Take time to shop, explore, and “chillax.” This would be a great opportunity to book a Spa treatment. Option #2: Optional private boat excursion to Capri! Join with fellow travelers on a privately chartered boat (stocked with refreshments) to the world famous playground of the rich and famous: the Isle of Capri. Spend time in Capri town with its world-famous Piazzetta and explore Capri’s chic boutiques and outdoor cafés. The boat will also make some swim stops in the azure blue Mediterranean water as you circumvent Capri (Approximately $150 supplement).

Tuesday – June 11, 2019

Today it is time to say “Arrivederci” to Sorrento and make our way to Rome. En route, we will stop and visit the excavated ruins of Pompeii. A local guide will provide an in-depth view of this remarkably preserved archaeological site. Upon arrival in Rome, you will check into your accommodation taking in many iconic Roman landmarks along the way.

Less than 5 minutes from your hotel is St. Peter’s Square. You can roll out of bed and cross another international border for an audience with Pope Francis! Today you will tour Bernini’s Piazza and see the heart of the Catholic Church. This afternoon you will visit the Vatican Museum and see its vast collection of art.

We'll journey to the center of the city and jump 2,000 years back in time. Our first stop is the site of crucifixions, combats, and even concerts: The Colosseum. During an in-depth visit to the Colosseum, your guide will recount its rich history.

There are so many things to do in Rome and this afternoon is your chance to begin your independent exploration. Everyone will be given a 2 Day Roma Pass that will provide you with fast-track admission to iconic sites in Rome and unlimited public transport.

Enjoy a full day at leisure to explore Rome’s cultural treasures; many an easy walk from the hotel. Daniel Bizga will lead an optional tour of Ignatian Rome to see where St. Ignatius lived and died in Rome – including the Church of the Gesu, the Ignatian apartments, and the Church of St. Ignatius. What will be on your personal sightseeing list? Your Tour Manager will be at your service to offer suggestions and highlight the multiple places included with your Roma Pass.

Rise and Shine! Ciao, Italia! We’ll be transferred to Rome's airport this morning to begin the long trek home. Hopefully, you threw a coin into the Trevi Fountain (ensuring your return one day). (B)

FLIGHT OPTIONS:
Option #1
Round-trip from Cleveland to Rome. This option will cost around $1900 round-trip.
Option #2
Round-trip from Toronto to Rome on AirCanada. Approximate cost $950 including round-trip transportation from Cleveland to Toronto Pearson Airport.
It is only approximately a five-hour drive from Cleveland to Toronto. The cost of the flight and luxury coach trasportation will cut the airfare related cost in half and will potentially save time. All flights from Cleveland to Rome involve a connection in Chicago, Newark/New York, Washington DC, etc. These often include tight and stressful connections or long layovers. Once you factor in the connecting flight, you are looking at the same travel time. Join us on Option #2 and sit back and relax and watch movies en route to your direct flight. No stressful connections or airport parking fees. You could also use the savings to upgrade your ticket.
Self-booking Option
Book your own flight and meet us in Rome or Sorrento. There will be a designated meeting time in Rome; if you are not there, we cannot wait or fly into Naples and take a taxi to your accommodation in Sorrento. Air Canada is a member of the Star Alliance. You could also book on the same flights as the group with your miles or points and just pay for the coach with the group.
