Our Response to COVID-19

Information regarding the Coronavirus situation

COVID-19 has upended every aspect of our lives—how we work, how students learn, how we celebrate holidays and milestones, how we worship, how we move around our communities, and how we travel. These times have been challenging for all of us. We are diligently monitoring the Coronavirus (COVID-19) situation with our suppliers, airlines, and working per the latest official recommendations issued by the US Department of State.

We are excited to be back to traveling and we remain committed to providing flexible options for groups that were unable to travel due to COVID-19. We have been in touch with affected Group Leaders directly to communicate all available options. We have made rescheduling a group’s trip a priority, and to protect the full investment our travelers made in their tour we have taken the following steps:

  • As soon as your Group Leader selects a new date for your tour, we will move all travelers to the new date—there are no additional actions you need to take.

  • Any group originally scheduled to travel on tour in 2020 or early 2021 that wishes to embark on the same itinerary in 2022 and 2023 can do so with no additional rebooking fees.

  • All monies paid from your original tour will be transferred into the new account.

The situation is now improving and we are excited that most of our cancelled programs have been rescheduled and completed since the travel restrictions have been lifted in most destinations.

Revised policies

Given the current situation with the Coronavirus (COVID-19) we have adjusted our cancellation policy:

  • If your reservation has been postponed due to the current COVID-19 situation, or there is a total restriction on entry to your destination country, we will proceed to offer you flexible solutions to allow your group to change your booking to a more suitable date and/or destination.

  • Any individual traveler who is unable to travel with their group’s rescheduled tour can receive a COVID-19 Travel Credit for the amount paid. We will share with you travel programs offered through Afar & Away Travel that will allow you to redeem your voucher. You will have 2 years to use them from the time you cancel participation in your group.

  • If you choose to cancel, and not travel on the rescheduled tour, our standard cancellation policy will apply from the time your tour was rescheduled. Please remember these policies exist to cover the non-refundable costs that we pay in advance on behalf of our clients and to support our staff who plan these trips for months in advance and who are working right now to provide new options for travelers who have been affected by COVID-19.

For more information on the details of the cancellation policy please see the Terms and Conditions.
